Project Overview

Lakewood City Hall required replacement of aging multi-zone air handling units while maintaining uninterrupted municipal operations. The modernization effort demanded careful coordination within tight mechanical spaces.

The Challenge

The project involved replacing existing AHUs in a fully operational government building with limited access and constrained mechanical rooms.

Key challenges included:

  • Tight existing duct connections
  • Integration with older hydronic piping systems
  • Minimal allowable downtime
  • No margin for fabrication errors

Geauga Mechanical utilized 3D laser scanning technology to capture existing conditions and develop a precise coordination model.

  • Eliminated duct remakes through advanced modeling
  • Installed new hydronic piping within tight spaces
